The successful operation and development of an effective Board is dependent on an organisation’s ability to identify people and process issues as well as professional development needs
Evalu8™ is a self assessment tool that examines the effectiveness of the Board, its Committees and individual Directors/Trustees without the need for intrusive and expensive third parties.
Evalu8™ has been developed in association with its users which include FTSE 100 and other listed and unlisted companies, State owned enterprises, NHS Foundation Trusts, FSA and other regulated organisations and Charities.
At the core of Evalu8™ are separate appraisals covering the Board, its Directors and the Audit, Nomination and Remuneration Committees and a blank appraisal. Each appraisal type is fully customisable and users can select or edit statements from the more than 300 included or add their own. These statements examine effectiveness in the following areas for the Board and its Committees as well as for individual directors; establishment and role, membership, appointments, skills, experience and training, meetings, leadership and internal relationships, procedures and communications with stakeholders. In this way each organisation develops an appraisal process which is unique and wholly relevant to that organisation.
Customised appraisals are distributed and returned electronically by e mail and each respondent has the opportunity to support responses with comments, observations or suggestions. In this way the appraisal process is de-personalised and non-threatening.
Evalu8™ will collate responses automatically and generate a series of reports which allows the Chairman and members of the Board to easily identify any issues, concerns and professional development needs and allows benchmarking of Board, Committee and Director effectiveness against both best practice and optionally against a peer group.
In summary, Evalu8™ is a secure and cost and time effective approach to this sensitive governance exercise and completion of the process allows organisations to report compliance with international best practice and without fear of reproach from any quarter
